Hello, my Lovelies,
I am a huge book lover…My collection is ridiculous. Could I say that as a child I loved reading? No way in hell. Lately, I’ve been really into the self-help books as I’ve been trying to get out of my head and build my future. Self-help books are an amazing way to get you out of a slump, encourage you to do better, help with emotions, or help build you an empire. There are so many out there in the world you just need to find one that caters to you and your needs. I’ve read all different types of books 📚 I just love how some of them can take you to another world.
So if you don’t know already today’s blog post is going to be a book review. The author up for review is none other than the lovely Rachel Hollis. Her books Girl, wash your face and Girl, Stop Apologizing are both powerful and inspirational. But, first a little about the author. Rachel Hollis was born in January 1983. She is an American Author, Blogger, Motivational speaker, and CEO of her own Media Company. Rachel got her big break after an Instagram post of hers went viral. The post was about wearing a bikini and embracing her stretch marks after giving birth to 3 big boys. In this post, she states “I have stretch marks and I wear a bikini. I have a belly that’s permanently flabby from carrying three giant babies and I wear a bikini. My belly button is saggy… (which is something I didn’t even know was possible before!!) and I wear a bikini. I wear a bikini because I’m proud of this body and every mark on it. Those marks prove that I was blessed enough to carry my babies and that flabby tummy means I worked hard to lose what weight I could. I wear a bikini because the only man who’s opinion matters knows what I went through to look this way. That same man says he’s never seen anything sexier than my body, marks and all. They aren’t scars ladies, they’re stripes and you’ve earned them. Flaunt that body with pride!“ I couldn’t agree more. Here is the link if you want to see it Rachel Hollis IG After that things just blew up for her. Although she did publish several other books about being a “Party Girl” event planner. Rachel resides in California with her husband and four children.
Girl, Wash Your Face dives into the lies we tell our selves that prevents us from living up to our potential. For most of us women, we tend to be all in our heads with self-doubt and belittle ourselves even when we are trying to do or see things better. You can be the most successful businesswoman or entrepreneur and still have doubts. Rachel fearlessly tells us about the messiness that was her life and how you too can wash your face and “stop believing the lies about who you are so you can become who you were meant to be.”
Girl, Stop Apologizing is a girl talk book about how we need to stop apologizing for being who we are and to adopt a shame-free attitude so you can achieve your boss babe dream. This book is basically a follow up to Girl, Wash Your Face but instead tells you the steps of how you can get out of your head, get out of your own way and how to move forward to successfully become who you need to be. This book is basically a how-to without apologizing for being who you are and for going after what you want.
I really love this flow chart.
I highly enjoyed both of these books. I honestly soaked up so much information and really learned about myself and where I’ve been slacking in my life. They have definitely inspired me to work harder, keep pushing myself, stay out of my head and not give a damn about opinions. We all just need to live our lives and focus on what we want to accomplish. We need to see that it’s okay to ask/accept help, it’s okay to not give a damn about those who don’t see where you’re going or talk down about it. Rachel Hollis provides the steps she took so you too can achieve your goals without the outside negativity. Realize your goals and take the proper steps to become a better you and build the life you want.
